An Introduction to Gemstone Therapy

Loved for its purple hue, this stone is often believed to have protective capabilities. Shielding both internal and external negative energies, relieving stress and anxiety, and even potentially promoting better sleep, amethyst is seen as a harmonious stone for balancing the crown chakras. 

While Amethyst often protects ones "headspace", this root chakra gemstone works in the opposite direction. Black Tourmaline is believed to have a grounding effect, anchoring one's energy to the Earth, promoting a sense of security and stability.  It is an excellent crystal for energetic purification and may  also assist with inflammation and chronic pain.

Being linked to the heart chakra, jade is often associated with health, vitality, and longevity.  In traditional Chinese medicine, jade is believed to promote cardiovascular health and balance blood pressure. 

Additionally, jade is considered a symbol of luck, prosperity, and abundance. It is often used  to attract wealth and good fortune into the home or workplace. 

There are numerous legends surrounding this stone, known for its iridescent, deep blue tones.  The Inuit peoples speak of the frozen fire of the Aurora Borealis captured and carved from within cave walls. While Norse mythology associate it with the Bifrost "rainbow" bridge, symbolizing a gateway between our worl and the divine.

This magical stone is associated with both the third eye and throat chakras.  It is believed to promote intuition and awareness as well as encourage communication, self-expression, and sharing your truth. 

Like Black Tourmaline, Onyx is also a powerful root chakra stone, firmly grounding its wearer.  Capable of absorbing aggressive energies and using them to build persistence, endurance, and mental and physical strength.

Yet unlike the former, onyx is believed to also serve as a conduit of spiritual freedom. cleansing the mind of negative thoughts, and promoting a sense of acceptance.

Shungite is a rare carbon-rich (99%) mineral, found exclusively in Shunga, Russia.  Its unique molecular composition (i.e. possessing fullerenes) is purported to have antibacterial, and antioxidant properties, as well as the potential to purify water.

Some practitioners are said to use shungite as an anti-inflammatory, a detoxifier, and stress reducing agent.
